This weekend Oriki Theatre, in partnership with the Community School of Music & Arts, presents the first annual Silicon Valley African Film Festival.  The festival will showcase 30 films from 16 countries, presenting a mix of feature films, shorts and animations from Africa’s seasoned and emerging first-voice filmmakers.

The mission of the film fest is to promote an understanding and appreciation of Africa and Africans through moving images, reflecting the true stories, hopes & dreams of Africa.  Highlights of the festival will include dialogue with filmmakers, African drumming & dance performances, theme parties, Awards Ceremony.

More information regarding the event can be found on the CMSA as well as the official website of the Silicon Valley African Film Festival.

The Peninsula we call home has a unique  mix of global cultures and customs. Altaire hopes the festival is a huge success and looks forward to future festivals celebrating culture and diversity.
