Some more encouraging news was recently reported. Silicon Valley is projected to experience “robust growth” in 2012. A recent article on Mercurynews.com had all the details. From their article: “Robust growth” will return to Silicon Valley in 2012, according to a report today from the Business Forecasting Center at the University of the Pacific in Stockton.While “California remains in the sluggish, early stages of a long, slow five-year recovery,” the San Jose metro area “continues to be the only area in Northern California that is clearly recovering, although Silicon Valley’s growth slowed in the second half of 2010,” according to a news release from the center. The article goes on to state promising data regarding increases to personal income and job growth, with a decline in jobless rate – all indicators that our local economy is on the road to recovery at a faster rate than the rest of the State of California. Tech is leading the way with strong showings by Apple, Facebook, Hewlett-Packard, Cisco Systems and others. Palo Alto is a great place to live. We have it all – wonderful people, beautiful weather and a strong vocational infrastructure which brings the best and brightest to our region. So what did Palo Altans want to change in 2011? Locals interviewed in a recent Patch article came up with the following resolutions: Achieving your Goal Weight, More Time for Travel & Obtaining a Vocational Goal. The article also came up with some excellent advice, whatever your resolutions may be: Some can be skeptical of resolutions, but setting yearly, monthly or even daily goals for accomplishments both big and small can help keep you focused and on track, to achieving the things you really want in life. Resolutions tend to be very personal in nature, usually dealing with changes in your own life. But have you considered a resolution to make a change in the life of others? There is already talk of Stanford quarterback, Andrew Luck, going pro and many give the edge to Stanford. But don’t count out Virgina Tech as they have a potent player in their dual-threat quarterback, Tyrod Taylor, as well. Both teams have improved over the course of the season. Stanford has 1 loss and the Hokies have 2, both at the beginning of their season play. Both teams are very evenly matched so it should be a great game. It is the first meeting between the two schools and the first meeting between Pac-10 and ACC teams in the 77-year history of the Orange Bowl Classic.
