Whether you have a passing interest or want to explore more about the rich traditions of Jazz, our neighbor, Palo Alto’s Oshman JCC, has a jazz series you won’t want to miss!

Taught by jazz pianist and educator Mike Greensill, along with special guest artists, the series consists of three 60-minute classes and the final 90-minute concert will include some history, plenty of music, and a lot of fun.

Best of all, the classes are designed for novice jazz listeners, experts… and the simply curious; all are welcome. The series begins this Wednesday, June 23rd at 7:00 PM.

Class 1: What is Jazz?

Jazz is America’s first original art form. We’ll explore its history from the early days in New Orleans to the contemporary scene in New York and beyond. Along the way, we’ll discover diverse styles like swing, bebop, and more.

Musical demonstrations by Mike Greensill, piano; plus recorded examples.

June 23, 7:00 PM, Schultz Cultural Arts Hall

Classes are $15 for members and $18 for Non-members. Concert is $18 for member and $23 for Non-Members. The classes may be taken individually or as a series. Register Online!
